"We have our customers’ bottom line in mind, which is why we’re constantly improving and adding to our continuum of products to suit a range of project needs."

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Johns Manville (JM), a Berkshire Hathaway company and leading building products manufacturer, today announced that JM Corbond III® closed-cell spray polyurethane foam insulation now offers a R-value of 5.9/inch (11.6 ft2/hr/oF/BTU LTTR), a change that translates to a 13 percent higher R-value compared to previous thermal performance of 5.1/inch. With the upgrade, JM Corbond III® has achieved a Type 2 R-value, which designates the highest level of thermal resistance for spray foam under the National Building Code of Canada.

While maintaining its superior sprayability and signature grey color, JM Corbond III now requires significantly less product to deliver the desired R-value. For example, to achieve R-38, contractors now need 6.4 inches of foam compared to 7.5 inches. It meets the code required for R-20 in a 2x4 wall configuration and the material standards set by the Standard Code Council of Canada (CAN/ULC S770).

The new and improved product R-value is the result of formula optimization and general product improvements. The enhancement of JM Corbond III is effective immediately.

“By optimizing JM Corbond III to increase its R-value, we’re helping our customers meet their performance goals in less time and with less product,” said Fred Stephan, senior vice president of Insulation Systems at Johns Manville. “We have our customers’ bottom line in mind, which is why we’re constantly improving and adding to our continuum of products to suit a range of project needs.”

JM Corbond III can be used alone or installed together with JM fiber glass insulation to create custom thermal solutions for residential, commercial and industrial applications. JM Corbond III insulation is a proven closed-cell foam building insulation, providing superior thermal, moisture and cold-temperature performance and dimensional stability. It can be applied at temperatures as low as -4 degrees Celsius (25 degrees Fahrenheit). For additional information regarding JM Corbond III, visit
